Who we are

Daily Player is operated by Stadimax Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. When you use Daily Player (dailyplayer.com), Stadimax Limited is the data controller responsible for your personal information. You can contact us at team@dailyplayer.com or through the Contact form on this site.

What information we collect

When you create an account, we collect and store the following on our servers:

Account details — your first name, last name and email address.
Last activity date — if you have an account, the date you last opened Daily Player, so we can understand which members are actively using the service. We store only the most recent date, not a history of your visits.
Community handle — the public nickname you choose. This is shown publicly alongside any comments you post; your real name and email are never displayed.
Football preferences — your favourite player and favourite club, if you choose to provide them, used to personalise your experience.
Approximate country — a country code estimated from your browser's language setting and, where available, your general connection location. We do not collect your precise location or street address.
Comments — if you post a comment, the text and your display name are stored and shown publicly on that player's page.
Push notification subscription — if you enable notifications, a device subscription token is stored so we can send you the daily Featured Player alert. It contains no personal details about you.
Player suggestions — if you suggest a Featured Player, we store the player name, your reason, and the name you give for credit.
Contact form submissions — your name, email address and message when you contact us.

We also store some information in your browser's local storage (such as your current session) so the app works smoothly on your device.

Payments: if you purchase a Premium subscription, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

How we use your information

To send you the daily Featured Player notification or email, where you have asked us to.
To personalise your experience based on your stated preferences.
To credit you on the site if we feature a player you suggested, and to respond to your enquiries.
To understand overall, aggregated usage (such as total sign-ups and how many people play each day) so we can improve the product. This is done using anonymous totals, not your individual profile.

Legal basis for processing

We rely on your consent where you choose to enable notifications, subscribe to the email, or submit a suggestion — you can withdraw that consent at any time. We rely on our legitimate interests to operate the service you signed up for, to keep it secure, and to understand aggregate usage. Where you buy Premium, we process the data necessary to perform that contract.

Your public handle

If you post comments, the handle you choose is shown publicly beside them. Please choose a handle you're comfortable being seen by others. Your name, email and other details are never made public.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:

Netlify — hosts the site and stores your account and subscription data.
Beehiiv — our email newsletter platform, used only if you subscribe to emails.
Stripe — processes Premium payments securely; card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored by us.
Anthropic — generates some editorial "Did You Know" text. Only player names are sent; none of your personal data is shared.
Wikimedia — player photos are served from Wikimedia. No personal data is shared.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

International transfers

Some of these providers are based outside the UK (for example, in the United States). Where your data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Push notification subscriptions are removed automatically when they expire or you revoke permission, and stale ones are cleared periodically. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to its processing; and to data portability. To exercise any of these — including deleting your account and its data — contact us at team@dailyplayer.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and local storage

Daily Player does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings on your device. Note that your account data is also stored on our servers (via Netlify) so the service works across devices.

Children

Daily Player is a general-audience football product and is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not provide us with any personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified on this page and, where appropriate, to subscribers by email. Continued use of Daily Player after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

About Daily Player

Daily Player is a digital product operated by Stadimax Limited, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using dailyplayer.com, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Intellectual property

All content on Daily Player — including but not limited to Featured Player editorial, biography and story text, Did You Know facts, player descriptions, editorial commentary, the Daily Player name, and the site design — is the intellectual property of Stadimax Limited and is protected by copyright. Daily Player is a trademark of Stadimax Limited.

You may not reproduce, distribute, republish, or create derivative works from any Daily Player content without our prior written consent, except for personal, non-commercial use (such as sharing a Featured Player page on social media with attribution).

User submissions

When you submit a pair suggestion through the "Suggest a Pair" feature, you grant Stadimax Limited a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, publish, adapt, and display your submission (including the name you provide for credit) on Daily Player and in related promotional materials. You retain ownership of your submission but agree that we may use it freely in connection with the product.

By submitting a suggestion, you confirm that it does not infringe any third-party rights and that you are happy for your name to be published on the site.

Accuracy and editorial discretion

We take care to ensure player facts, statistics, and biographical information are accurate, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all content given the scale of the player database. If you spot an error, please contact us and we will correct it promptly.

Featured Player selections, editorial framing, press summaries and social-sentiment summaries represent the opinion of Daily Player's editorial team. They are not intended as definitive rankings or official assessments. Fan sentiment is summarised in our own words; fan posts are never quoted directly.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Daily Player to: scrape or systematically extract player data; attempt to interfere with or disrupt the site; submit false, offensive, or abusive pair suggestions; or impersonate another person in any submission.

Limitation of liability

Daily Player is provided "as is". Stadimax Limited makes no warranties as to uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email. Continued use of Daily Player after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
