Fridolina Rolfö's story
Kungsbacka's Double Act
Fridolina Rolfö was born on 24 November 1993 in Kungsbacka — the same small Swedish city near Gothenburg that produced Caroline Seger. The two teammates sharing a hometown is a remarkable coincidence and speaks to the extraordinary football culture of a relatively small community.
Wolfsburg to Barcelona
Rolfö developed at Damallsvenskan clubs before joining VfL Wolfsburg in Germany, where she won the Frauen-Bundesliga and established herself as one of Europe's best wide forwards. Barcelona signed her in 2021, adding her physical power and directness to an attack already containing Alexia Putellas and Jennifer Hermoso. She has been outstanding at the Catalan club.
2021 Champions League Final
Rolfö scored one of Barcelona's goals in the 2021 UEFA Women's Champions League final — a 4-0 demolition of Chelsea that was one of the most dominant performances in the history of the competition. Her combination of power and technique made her a nightmare for Chelsea's defence throughout that campaign.
Sweden's Olympic Silver
Rolfö was Sweden's standout player as they reached the final of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where they lost to Canada on penalties. She was named in the tournament Team of the Tournament and has established herself as one of the best wide forwards at international level. She remains a key player for club and country.
