About Harry Kane MBE
Harry Kane is England's all-time leading goalscorer and one of the most complete centre-forwards of his generation, combining prolific finishing with exceptional hold-up play and creative passing. He spent 12 hugely decorated individual years at Tottenham before moving to Bayern Munich in 2023, and captains England at the 2026 World Cup as the tournament's all-time England scoring record holder.
Harry Kane MBE's story
Spurs' Record Scorer, England's All-Time Great
Kane's rise was anything but smooth: four separate loan spells (Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City, Leicester City) between 2011 and 2013 saw him restarting his career in League One and the Championship before Tottenham finally trusted him in their own attack. Once he broke through in 2014-15, he barely stopped scoring — four Premier League Golden Boots, and in February 2023 he passed Jimmy Greaves' 266 goals to become Tottenham's all-time record scorer. He surpassed Wayne Rooney's England record of 53 international goals later that year to become his country's greatest ever scorer, and captains the national side.
The Move to Munich
Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in August 2023 in a deal worth around €110m — the most expensive transfer in Bundesliga history — ending 12 trophyless years at Spurs without ever lifting a major honour. He didn't wait long at Bayern: an immediate Bundesliga Golden Shoe-winning debut season was followed by the Bundesliga title itself in 2024-25, his first major trophy at 31, and a first DFB-Pokal and German Super Cup arrived alongside a third straight Bundesliga top-scorer crown in 2025-26.
Off the Pitch
Kane and wife Kate Goodland, married since 2019, moved their family — daughters Ivy and Vivienne, sons Louis and Henry — to Munich when he joined Bayern. He's known in football as unusually meticulous about his own game: he has kept a personal spreadsheet logging every goal he's ever scored, including the exact type and situation, since he was a teenager. Away from football he's a genuinely useful amateur darts player, having played exhibition legs against pros, and a keen American football fan. His Harry Kane Foundation supports mental health and wellbeing initiatives for children and young people.
Did you know?
- 🥈 Kane left the Premier League in 2023 as its second-highest all-time scorer on 213 goals, just 47 short of Alan Shearer's record 260 — a gap he hinted he'd like to close one day at his own Bayern Munich unveiling, while Shearer has joked he's “quite pleased” every time Kane signs a new contract in Germany instead.
- 🤝 Unlike most elite strikers, Kane is also one of the Premier League's best creators — he consistently ranked among the top assist providers at Tottenham, making him one of the most complete forwards of his generation.
- 👨👦 Kane's earliest football memory is playing one-on-one in the park behind his childhood home in Chingford with his dad in goal and his older brother Charlie, four years his senior, as his first opponent.
