About Sadio Mané
Sadio Mané was one of the most electrifying wingers of his generation, forming a devastating attacking partnership with Salah and Firmino at Liverpool. He helped the club win the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020, led Senegal to their first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021, and has spent recent years in Bayern Munich's and now Al Nassr's colours in Saudi Arabia.
Sadio Mané's story
From a Senegalese Village to Liverpool's Front Three
Mané ran away from home at 15 to join a football academy against his father's wishes, who wanted him to become a religious leader. He rose through Metz, Salzburg and Southampton — where he scored the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history, in 176 seconds — before Liverpool signed him in 2016 for £34m.
Champions League Glory and a Senegalese First
As part of Liverpool's front three alongside Salah and Firmino, Mané helped win the 2019 Champions League and the 2019-20 Premier League. In February 2022 he scored the decisive penalty as Senegal beat Egypt — and his Liverpool teammate Salah — to win their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations.
Bayern, Al Nassr, and a Career Winding Down
Mané left Liverpool for Bayern Munich in 2022, then moved to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia in 2023, reuniting with Cristiano Ronaldo. He announced his retirement from international football with Senegal after their 2026 World Cup exit, and is expected to extend his Al Nassr contract to see out his career in Saudi Arabia.
Giving Back to Bambali
Mané has invested millions of his own money in his home village of Bambali, funding a school, a hospital and a petrol station, and has spoken often about wanting Senegalese children to have opportunities he never had growing up.
