Pascal Groß's story
Mannheim to the Premier League
Born in Mannheim on 15 June 1991, the son of former Karlsruher SC player Stephan Groß, he came through at Hoffenheim and Karlsruhe before five seasons at FC Ingolstadt. Brighton signed him for a reported £3m in 2017.
Mr Brighton
Across seven seasons on the south coast he made 228 appearances and scored 30 goals, was twice named Brighton's Player of the Year (2017-18 and 2023-24), and was for a time the club's all-time Premier League top scorer until Danny Welbeck passed him in 2025.
Dortmund and Germany
He joined Borussia Dortmund in 2024, where in February 2025 he assisted four goals in a 6-0 win over Union Berlin, only the third player in Bundesliga history to do so. His Germany debut came against Japan on 9 September 2023, and he went to Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.
Home Again
Brighton re-signed him from Dortmund on 2 January 2026 on a deal to June 2027. In September 2026 he scored twice and set up three goals as Brighton beat Arsenal 3-0 and Coventry 5-0, and won the Premier League Player of the Month award, a first for a Brighton player.
