About Dominic Ballard
Dominic Ballard is a rising young striker who joined Bristol City from Leyton Orient on a four-year deal on 4 August 2026, off the back of a historic 2025-26 season in which he won both League One's Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards. Quick, instinctive and clinical in the box, he arrived with a reputation for the spectacular — and lived up to it almost immediately.
Dominic Ballard's story
A Childhood Between Greece and Berkshire
Ballard's route into professional football started well away from Bristol: several early childhood years living abroad, a family relocation back to England, and more than a decade inside one academy system before he ever kicked a ball as a senior professional. He represented England at every youth level along the way, from U17 through to U20.
A Senior Debut, and a Serious Setback
Ballard's rise through Southampton's ranks culminated in a senior debut and a Premier League appearance, but the two years that followed brought a string of loan-spell injuries that tested his resolve before Southampton recalled him to plan his next move.
The Breakout Season at Leyton Orient
Ballard's permanent move to Leyton Orient in September 2025 produced the season of his career, in a team that spent most of the campaign fighting the wrong end of the table — a rare case of an individual performance genuinely outrunning the side around it.
A Viral Debut at Bristol City
Bristol City's move for Ballard in the summer of 2026 was followed almost immediately by a moment that made headlines well beyond the Championship, as new head coach Michael Skubala's marquee summer addition announced himself in spectacular fashion.
