About Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard is the most prolific goalscoring midfielder in English football history. He scored 211 goals for Chelsea — more than any midfielder for any single club in the Premier League era. A model professional whose fitness and dedication were legendary, he won back-to-back FWA and PFA awards in 2005. His career-long rivalry with Steven Gerrard for the England midfield remains one of football's great what-ifs.
Frank Lampard's story
West Ham's Prodigy
Lampard is the son of West Ham legend Frank Lampard Sr., who also made his career at Upton Park. As a teenager he was relentlessly targeted by West Ham fans for his weight, which drove him into obsessive fitness training. By 21 he was one of the Premier League's finest midfielders. His uncle is Harry Redknapp.
Chelsea's Greatest
At Chelsea under José Mourinho, Lampard became the supreme box-to-box midfielder. He scored 20+ goals in five consecutive seasons — a record no midfielder has matched in the Premier League era. His technical intelligence, late runs, and set-piece delivery made him almost impossible to mark.
Manager and Beyond
After retiring in 2017, Lampard became manager of Derby County, then returned to Chelsea in 2019 before spells at Everton and Coventry (ENG). He is married to TV presenter Christine Bleakley and lives in London (ENG).
