About Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku is Belgium's all-time top scorer (85+ goals) and one of the most physically imposing strikers of his generation. He has scored consistently at the highest level across multiple countries — Premier League (Everton, Manchester United, Chelsea), Serie A (Inter Milan, Roma), and internationally. He was instrumental in Belgium's third-place finish at the 2018 World Cup and remains the centerpiece of Belgian football.
Romelu Lukaku's story
Antwerp's Giant
Lukaku was born in Antwerp to a Congolese father who played professionally in Belgium. His mother famously fed him and his brother powdered milk during difficult financial times — a story Lukaku cited in an emotional Instagram post that went viral. His size and strength were apparent from childhood; his technical development came through years of professional focus.
Inter's Transformation
Lukaku's move to Inter Milan in 2019 under Antonio Conte was the making of his legacy. He scored 64 goals in two seasons, won the Serie A title in 2020-21 — Inter's first in 11 years — and was named the league's best player. His physical dominance over Italian defenders was unprecedented. He left for Chelsea for £97.5m — the largest fee ever paid for a Belgian player.
Belgium's Record
Lukaku became Belgium's all-time top scorer in international football — surpassing Jan Ceulemans — and remains the defining player of Belgium's golden generation. Despite never winning a major international trophy, his personal record of consistent scoring across 120+ appearances makes him one of the most prolific international forwards in European football history.
