About Lucy Bronze
Lucy Bronze is the finest right back in women's football history — a player of extraordinary athletic ability, technical quality, and competitive drive who won three UEFA Women's Champions Leagues with Lyon and a European Championship with England in 2022.
Lucy Bronze's story
Northumberland Beginnings
Lucy Bronze was born on 28 October 1991 in Berwick-upon-Tweed — a small town on the English-Scottish border. She played youth football with Sunderland and attended Northumbria University, combining education with football before turning professional. She debuted for England in 2013 and quickly became one of the team's most important players.
Lyon's Flying Full-Back
Bronze joined Olympique Lyonnais in 2017 — the best women's club in the world at the time. She won three consecutive UEFA Women's Champions League titles there (2018, 2019, 2020) and was named UEFA Women's Player of the Year in 2019. Her goal against Bayern Munich in the 2019 Champions League semi-final — a stunning volley from outside the box — was one of the goals of the decade.
EURO 2022 Winner
Bronze was a central figure in England's historic triumph at UEFA Women's Euro 2022 — the Lionesses' first major tournament victory. She was named in the Team of the Tournament and her performances throughout the competition confirmed her status as the world's best right back. The Euros final, won 2-1 against Germany at Wembley, was watched by 17.4 million on BBC — a record for any UK football match.
Barcelona & Manchester City
Bronze joined Barcelona in 2020 before returning to Manchester City and then Chelsea. At every club she has raised standards and won major honours. She continues to play at the highest level and remains one of the most important players in the women's game globally.
