About Kaká

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos (BRA) Leite, known as Kaká, was the last great traditional No.10 before the Messi-Ronaldo duopoly reshaped football. His 2006–07 season at AC Milan — carrying them to a Champions League title almost single-handedly — is one of the most dominant individual campaigns in European football history. Clean-living, deeply devout, and technically sublime.

Kaká's story

Faith and Football

Kaká grew up in a middle-class family in São Paulo (BRA). At 18 he suffered a serious spinal injury in a swimming pool accident. He recovered fully and attributed his survival to his Christian faith — he has "I belong to Jesus" printed on his undershirt, which he reveals after every goal.

Milan's Midfield Maestro

At AC Milan he became the heartbeat of Carlo Ancelotti's team. His 2006–07 Champions League campaign was historic: he scored in every knockout round, including assists against Manchester United in the semi-final. Milan (ITA) beat Liverpool (ENG) 2–1 in the final. He won the Ballon d'Or that year — the last player outside the Messi-Ronaldo era to do so for 12 years.

Decline and Legacy

His £56m move to Real Madrid was one of football's great disappointments — plagued by knee injuries, he never recaptured his form. He divorced from Caroline in 2015 and later remarried. He lives in Florida as a FIFA ambassador.
